Week 5 — A Letter You’ll Never Send
(From the “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Healing Series”)
Dear readers,
This week, let’s talk about something simple but powerful — writing a letter you’ll never send.
Maybe it’s to someone who hurt you.
Maybe it’s to someone you still miss.
Or maybe it’s to your younger self — the one who tried so hard, loved so deeply, and never really got the apology she deserved.
You don’t have to send it. You don’t even have to keep it.
Just write it.
Write everything you wish you could say — the anger, the sadness, the “thank yous,” and the “I wish you knew.”
Let it all spill out, messy and honest.
Because sometimes, healing doesn’t come from talking to them.
It comes from talking to yourself — with kindness, with courage, with love.
You might notice that as you write, something softens.
Your chest feels a little lighter.
Your heart, a little freer.
That’s the power of releasing what’s been sitting quietly inside you.
You can fold the letter, burn it, or tuck it away.
The act of writing is the closure itself.
So tonight, grab your notebook or your favorite pen.
Start with, “Dear you…” or “Dear me…” and let your heart lead the way.
You’re not writing to fix the past.
You’re writing to make peace with it.
Rest well for tomorrow,
— Your friend on the healing path. 🤍
