Ouch-the spinning wheel hurts-A modern retake of sleeping beauty

Ouch! The spinning wheel hurts,” I yelped dramatically, shaking my hand like I had just been personally attacked by medieval machinery. As I was looking from my single-tower high-rise window, squinting into the distance in search of my ever-dreamt prince charming—you know, the one riding a majestic white horse, cape fluttering, ideally carrying a latte and emotional intelligence—well… that’s when it happened.

While daydreaming (again) about being rescued from this loneliness, I somehow accidentally got my fingers tangled in the spinning wheel.

Who even owns a spinning wheel in the 21st century?
Me, apparently. Pinterest is dangerous.

Anyway—poke!
And suddenly I remembered why daydreaming is both my superpower and my downfall: it happens when real life gets strict, harsh, or just unbearably meh. Like when your boss sends another “gentle reminder” email, or when your neighbor upstairs decides to reenact the Battle of Hogwarts at 3 a.m.

And just when my fantasy prince was about to swoop in and say, “Fear not, beautiful maiden!”—
BAM BAM BAM

My very real neighbor, Mr. Thunder-Foot, stomped overhead like he was auditioning for Stomp the Musical.

Ah yes. Nothing brings you back from a romantic daydream faster than the soundtrack of daily life: pressure cookers whistling, babies crying, and someone arguing about who stole their mangoes again.

I sighed, wiggling my injured finger, and flopped onto my bed like the drama queen I absolutely am.

“Maybe,” I mused to myself, staring at the ceiling, “I don’t need a prince charming. Maybe I need noise-canceling headphones.”

Just as I reached for my pillow…
Did the room just…spin?

Uh oh.

Maybe touching the spinning wheel wasn’t just a Pinterest aesthetic problem—
maybe this is my version of the curse.

And so, the modern Sleeping Beauty didn’t fall asleep because of magic or destiny…

She fell asleep because life got overwhelming, neighbors got noisy, and honestly?
She was just tired.

And maybe… just maybe…
she’d dream her way into the happy ending she deserved.
