Math homework stressing you out? Discover how watching YouTube cooking videos in spotless kitchens can be the ultimate stress relief—and why rice balls might just save your sanity.
When Maths Attacks, but YouTube Kitchens Save the Day
Maths and I have never been friends. In fact, we broke up a long time ago—and unlike exes, we never even tried to stay in touch. But last night, my daughter asked for help with her homework, and suddenly, I was face-to-face with my old nemesis. Fractions, equations, and that haunting letter “x.” (Why is “x” always missing? Shouldn’t the police be looking for it instead of me?)
Within ten minutes, my brain short-circuited. My daughter sighed. I sighed louder. The tension was so thick you could spread it on toast. That’s when I hit pause, put the pencil down, and did what any desperate, math-defeated parent does—I opened YouTube.
And there she was. A lady in a spotless kitchen, gracefully making rice balls with cucumber, carrots, spring onions, and this heavenly avocado dip. Her knives were shiny, her counters spotless, her bowls color-coordinated—basically the exact opposite of my kitchen, where a suspicious spoon from 2012 still exists.
But friends, let me tell you—watching those rice balls come together was pure meditation. Every slice, every roll, every dip into that smooth avocado sauce felt like a tiny vacation. For a few glorious minutes, I wasn’t a frustrated parent drowning in decimals—I was a Zen monk, sipping serenity through Wi-Fi.
Of course, reality came back. Mt. Maths still stood tall, waiting for me to climb. But thanks to that YouTube chef and her magical rice balls, I felt like I’d been given oxygen, snacks, and maybe even a sherpa.
So here’s the lesson: Sometimes, you don’t need a holiday, or yoga, or even a glass of wine. Sometimes, all you need is a stranger’s neat kitchen on YouTube and a bowl of rice balls.
Because honestly—if watching people cook in spotless kitchens burned calories, I’d be a supermodel by now.
